
Welcome to the Brockenhurst Choir

The Brockenhurst Choir is an amateur mixed choir based in Brockenhurst in the heart of the New Forest. We are enthusiastic, friendly and love singing. We perform a broad classical repertoire.
We hold two concerts a year (normally in May / June and December), and we regularly work with professional soloists and orchestras. Recent notable performances have included Charpentier Masse de Minuit, Bach St John Passion, Britten St Nicholas, Zimbe, Little Jazz Mass, the Mozart Requiem, Faure Requiem, Handel Coronation Anthems, Brahms Requiem, Handel Messiah, Vaughan Williams ‘A Sea Symphony’, Bach Mass in B minor, Goodall Requiem ‘Eternal Light’ and Haydn ‘The Creation’.

In 2024, we were pleased to welcome new Music Director Matthew Kelley, as well as the return of Jo Kent (previously Corbyn) as our accompanist. ​

​We are Recruiting ...
Brockenhurst Choir is seeking to appoint an experienced and accomplished Musical Director from Spring 2025. The post to start substantively from September but heading up a small project in May/June would be desirable.
The role offers the opportunity to prepare the choir for two concerts per year, which usually take place in St Saviour’s Church, Brockenhurst in May and December. In previous concerts, we have performed a wide range of classical choral music with professional players and soloists. Members are happy to explore a wide range of music. We rehearse in Brockenhurst on Tuesday evenings, drawing singers from all areas of the New Forest.

Applicants should have a thorough knowledge of the choral repertoire and proven experience of conducting a mixed voice choir and orchestra. Good communication skills and a love of their music and inspire us to continue moving forward in our musical development are essential. Experience in vocal technique coaching is desirable.
